I've been following this show since last year. Love the show, not only the story, but more for the actress and the soundtrack. If you can find this show at where you at, strongly recommend.
The "C" stands for Cancer. Cathy, was diagnosed her stage four breast cancer, started to rethink her life, her relationships and what she really want but never was able to pursue.
She kept the "C" secret for months from her husband and the teenage son. With the fact sitting behind, makes her acting weird in front of them.
Here is a scene:
The teenage son didn't realized his Mom's awkward behavior until by incident discovered a special container storaged tons of gifts from his Mom for every of his coming up birthdays and Christmas.
The second season addressed more about Cathy herself, her families and friends tried to deal with and survive from the "C".
All of them had built up themselves, prepared the most to face it, thought themselves were so ready to fight with Cathy. However, in one way or another, the terrified fear from the bottom of the minds still kept haunting back again and again.
It is cruel to know the threat will never go away until Cathy die. But in the mean time, the fact is they became stronger and tougher during the self build-ups from each emotion crash.
Per Wikipedia, the show was premiered last Aug and had drew the largest audience for a Showtime original series premiere in 8 years.
The theme song was surprising too. It had become my new ring tone. :)
